Orientation
Engramme’s activities have been conceived with an eye to promoting its mission and its specificity as an artists-run centre dedicated to fine art printmaking. In this optic, our artistic direction emphasizes several spheres of activities; those that touch on the development and expertise in printmaking technics, and those having to do with works destined to expand the conceptual and artistic possibilites of the medium. In another order of things, there are activities which, while fulfilling one of the centre’s mandates, provide for exchanges with artists from other horizons, be they disciplinary or geographical.
The work of member artists, artists from elsewhere in Canada and from abroad is presented in solo and group exhibitions. These exhibitions allow selected artists, whose research is significantly important, to show the exceptional quality of their work.

Gallery
The program of activities in Engramme’s gallery (ten a year) allows the presentation of original fine art prints and the creation of diversified concepts. Whether it be solo or collective exhibitions; Quebec artists, Canadian artists or artists from abroad, these activities show primarily the current creative trends in fine art printmaking while taking into consideration the diversity of artistic and conceptual preoccupations. The selection endeavours to offer a balance between mature works and those of a more experimental or innovative nature. Engramme gives particular attention to the installation of exhibitions in order to create a circuit susceptible to develop the conceptual dimension of each artist. Finally, Engramme follows the evolution of research in the new technologies (among others, that of digital imaging) and is always open to exhibition proposals that integrate other disciplinary approaches.

Print Collection
Printmaking studios, like Engramme, have a long tradition whereby members donate to their artists centre copies from each print edition produced by professional artists within the studio walls. This tradition has allowed Engramme to constitute an exceptional collection of contemporary fine art prints. Every year, new original works are added to the collection allowing it to bear witness to the evolution of creative printmaking in Quebec.
