Call to Artists

A unique residency experience is being offered in the winter of 2009
three months of intense production followed by a spring exhibition
Deadline: August 15, 2008

Residency:
Three months of production followed by an exhibition

Mandate:
As part of its 2008-09 programming, Québec City artist-run centre Œil de Poisson is offering an artist the chance to present his or her work in its main gallery following an in-house production residency.

The residency will take place over a three-month period in the centre’s workshops.

Context:
The residency is designed for artists who require the use of our wood and/or metal shops for the entire three-month period in order to realize an installation or sculptural or multidisciplinary work that incorporates materials and techniques that can only be handled in the shops.

The artist chosen for the residency will be provided with accommodations and a per diem for the entire period, which extends from January 19 to April 12, 2009.

The artist will be housed in one of the units of Méduse, a cooperative of centres working in visual, media and multidisciplinary arts.

The exhibition that follows the three-month residency will be part of Œil de Poisson’s programming for its main gallery. The dates are April 10 to May 10, 2009.

While developing the project, the artist will have access to all the equipment contained in the wood and metal shops, vast common spaces where many artists from the Québec City region work under the guidance of professional technicians.

The mezzanine overlooking the shops will be made available to the artist for use as a personal studio. Visit the wood and metal shop section of our website for more details.
