La Colonia brings together photographs gleaned by Valérian Mazataud over the last ten years, first on the bangs of various reportages, and then by living more closely, with his family, the reality of a Honduran neighborhood protected from the elements of the outside world by its high walls and sentries. Like the violence that is not always directly observed, but which takes root in people’s minds, the artist has moved away from spectacular photography to observe this ecosystem of fear in patterns and details that have become part of the city’s texture.

This exhibition is part of the Unfolding the Patterns of Our Futures program, which proposes to imagine how it is possible to reinvent ourselves today, by cutting out pieces of our pasts and reformulating them into possible futures.
