For a moment, members of a large family are invited to come together. Their faces come together, their hair and breath intermingle. The result is a timeless moment that we imagine is conducive to listening to each other’s hearts. Rooted in a relational approach, Josiane Roberge’s practice is rooted in such human experiences, which explore the elusive encounter between self and other. With this in mind, she brings together people from outside the field of art to propose actions that are meaningful both for them and for the resulting image.

For Panier de chatons, the artist asked these people to create a moment of close proximity. From this intimate event, a monumental photograph is taken, which, presented in the urban space, evokes the essential nature of friendships, family relationships and community. A kind of tribute to the pillars of our lives, this proposal invites us to plunge into the gentleness that emanates from our most sincere bonds. A nest where it’s good to be together, to doze off, to soothe ourselves.
