A scale tilting to one side, moccasins, a Canadian flag. With these elements, Nadia Myre invites us to a meditation on memory, but also on the present. [in]tangible tangles – which gives the exhibition its title – consists of pairs of moccasins whose images are taken from the online collection of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. These prints, made a few months after the discovery of 215 children’s remains in Kamloops, prompt reflection on various historical acts of violence perpetrated on native nations. This series, and the works that accompany it for the exhibition, provide a space for contemplation and reflection, particularly on inequalities and the political structures that give rise to them.
