Ahkwayaonhkeh is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of the first exhibition resulting from its new partnership with the Bibliothèque de Québec and KWE!

Anne L’Heureux, a member of the Wendat nation, grew up outside her community. Anne’s work comes out of her living room, allowing her to reflect current Aboriginal issues and to let herself be perceived. A keen experimenter in the arts, she has been working with glass fusion since 2009, exploring her vast sources of inspiration and the material limits of the medium, exciting both her scientific and creative minds. She has recently returned to paper, her first medium of choice.

With a pictorial language in which the rigor of the grid is combined with light, whirling forms, Anne leaves her living room to tell us about her history; a history in which she tries to fill in the blanks left by a brother who disappeared, a territory torn away, generations robbed of their culture. Whatever the gaps to be filled and the ties to be re-established, there is always the choice of hope to reconcile and soothe.
