From 2017 to 2024, Mélanie Bédard invited more than a dozen artists to various creative laboratories as part of multiple residencies, mentorships and excursions. On these occasions, each artist was invited to sit around a screen-space and enter into a dialogue of thought and matter, a meeting where the creative forces of each artist materialized and were pooled to give birth to frame-by-frame animated films, time-lapses and memory-scapes. Contextualized in a video installation simulating a dining room, these films are at once an open and intuitive reflection, an ode to friendship and a space for imagining what comes next.
This project received financial support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. It was made possible thanks to mentoring, co-production and residency support from Les Productions Recto-Verso, Avatar and La Bande Vidéo between 2017 and 2024, as well as impromptu forays and residencies with local producers and market gardeners in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
