Le gardien des enfants is a theatrical performance questioning the traces left by violence on the bodies and minds of those who endure it. Alone on stage, Charles Voyer recounts memories that are often confused and painful. These are decisive fragments of his past, marking the various transformations that have taken place over the course of his life. Through traumatic episodes – the repeated touching he endured in daycare; his violent encounter with a website featuring snuff films in his teens – he tries to understand the moments that shook his development and that remain with him to this day. Like an enigmatic ritual in this vaporous place, he navigates the meanders of his memory, inviting us to join him in his quest for a certain quietude, a certain appeasement. Like the process of developing silver photos in a darkroom, the image gradually appears, bathed in a strange, reddish light. It imposes itself on our retina, like the traces left by violence on the bodies and minds of its victims.
