PART ONE
Dawns
Duration: 25 min.
At dawn, light gradually reveals itself, abstract shapes and silhouettes emerge, color gradually comes to life, meaning emerges from the night.
Aubes thus presents an original and striking experience, playing with the effects of retinal persistence and the critical threshold of perception. It is one of Alexis Langevin-Tétrault and Guillaume Côté’s most singular audiovisual creations, both dazzling and accessible. It is an open door to their imaginary world, from which emanates a certain exalted euphoria.
This project is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec, the artist-run centers Avatar and Daïmôn in Canada, and Elektron Musik Studion (EMS) in Sweden.
20-MINUTE INTERMISSION
SECOND PART
Thirst
Running time: 53 min.
A concert of abrasive, telluric live electronic music, following on from composer Franck Vigroux’s most pulsating discography, Thirst goes beyond the limits of the concert by deploying an audiovisual dimension through Kurt d’Haeseleer’s video work. A multi-projection of images drawing to some extent on the lexical field of the wandering film, Americanized iconography and hyper-colored aesthetics converse with powerful, unbridled music. A veritable sensory voyage that raises questions about past symbols of picaresque and romantic transgression, now thwarted by new societal, digital and environmental developments.
