Alexis Gros-Louis presents an enigmatic, conceptual and minimalist experience. Essentially, he covered the entire gallery floor with terracotta tiles (Yända’tsa’), and mounted a photograph of a plant on the wall. The viewer has no choice but to tread on the work, in order to approach the image. You have to walk on clay to see the Poglus, a medicinal plant used by the Wendat people in particular. Gros-Louis’s economy of means, the invisibility of the production stages and the scarcity of information in the space, bring the essence of conceptual and minimal art back to the forefront of the art scene.
